I'm Leigh
Radio Broadcast
What brought you to Fanshawe?
I wanted to spread my wings and get an education at a college away from my hometown. My love for music and pop culture attracted me to the radio program, and thankfully I was accepted. Fanshawe was far enough away to become independent, but close enough for frequent visits back home.
Tell us about your favourite Fanshawe experience.
It has to be the friendships made with my classmates. We would spend hours together on and off campus supporting each other through the program, and many of us are still in touch today. So many fun experiences shared with like minded people.
What impact has Fanshawe had on your life?
The hands on experience at Fanshawe led to my first full time job before I graduated; thankfully I was allowed to finish my semester early to start the job. That began a 30+ year career in radio broadcasting throughout Southwestern Ontario in several markets and various formats.
What are you up to now?
I've come full circle, I am now a part time instructor in the Radio Broadcast program, sharing my career experiences with the next generation of broadcasters. This award winning program is considered the best in the country for preparing students to work in the broadcast industry and beyond.
